History of Rio Pecos Medical
Associates
Rio Pecos Medical Associates, LTD. had its beginning back
in 1955, when Dr. Hyslop and Dr. Pruitt became partners in the practice of
Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Howard Smith became associated with them in
1974. Subsequently Dr. Harold Ray partnered with Dr. Smith in 1975 and Rio
Pecos Ob-Gyn Associates was established. It was the first medical practice
incorporated in the state of New Mexico.
Dr. Kevin D. Lowe, M.D. joined the practice in 1975 and
continues as the senior practitioner in the group. He received his M.D. degree
from Oklahoma University in 1971 and completed his Ob-Gyn residency in 1975 at
Maricopa County hospital in Phoenix Arizona.
Dr. Richard C. Mooney, M.D. graduated from LSU Medical
School in 1981 and completed his Ob-Gyn training at LSU Medical Center in
1985. He joined Rio Pecos later that same year.
Steven C. North, M.D. similarly graduated from LSU Medical
School in 1988 and completed residency at the LSU Medical Center in 1992.
He has been with Rio Pecos Medical since that time.
Eric Y. Peterson, M.D. completed the Louisiana connection
by graduating from LSU Medical School in 1991 and completing residency training
in 1995. He too then joined Rio Pecos in the Land of Enchantment.
On January 1, 1997, Rio Pecos
Ob-Gyn Associates
incorporated as Rio Pecos
Medical Associates, LTD. with the addition of a Family Practice Division.
Rebecca B. Jones,
C.N.M., joined in July of 1997 after
completing studies at the University of New Mexico. Prior to joining Rio, she
was a registered Nurse on Labor and Delivery at Eastern New Mexico Medical
Center.
Janet Hardt,
C.N.M., became associated with the Ob/Gyn
Division in late 2000. She finished training in 2000 at
the University of Texas at El Paso.
The providers of Rio Pecos Medical Associates are happy to
be a part of the Roswell community and consider it a privilege to tend to the
medical needs of the people of Southeastern New Mexico. After 50 years of
service, Rio Pecos Medical Associates anxiously looks forward to the challenges
of the 21st century and is determined to stay current in its areas of
expertise for the benefit of its patients.
