   Obstetrics & Gynecology Division:

Dr. Kevin D. Lowe grew up in Albuquerque and joined Rio Pecos Ob-Gyn in 1975.  Dr. Lowe attended the University of Oklahoma where he obtained his bachelors and completed his doctorate in 1971.  He completed his residency in Phoenix, Arizona at the Maricopa County Hospital.  Dr. Lowe is certified by the American Board of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.  The focuses of Dr. Lowe's practice are women's' primary care, including screening and preventive health.  Aside from Rio Pecos, Dr. Lowe enjoys flying, motorcycle riding, scuba diving, skiing and working in his green house.

Dr. Richard C. Mooney joined Rio Pecos in 1985.  Dr Mooney is originally from Louisiana where he attended Northwestern State University.  He obtained his doctorate from the LSU School of Medicine in 1981.  In early 1985, he completed his residency at LSU Medical Center.  Dr. Mooney is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, a Diplomat of the American Board of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and is Certified by the Accreditation Council for Gynecologic Endoscopes.  Dr. Mooney is a Member of the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists as well.  Dr. Mooney is a member of Rio Pecos' Board of Directors.  Preventive and primary women's' health care issues as well as comprehensive care throughout pregnancy with management of labor and delivery are the focal points of Dr. Mooney's care.  Dr. Mooney enjoys Harley Davidson motorcycles, running marathons and driving sports cars.

Dr. Steven C. North originally comes from Shreveport, Louisiana.  He attended Northeast Louisiana University and received his doctorate from LSU Medical School in 1988.  He completed his residency in 1992 at LSU Medical Center and joined Rio Pecos Medical later that year.  Dr. North is a member of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.  Primary care of women including screening and preventive health, as well as comprehensive care throughout pregnancy with management of labor and delivery are the focuses of Dr. North's practice.  When Dr. North is not seeing patients, he enjoys eating Mexican food, bird dog training and hunting.  Dr. North is Rio Pecos' President and Chief Executive Officer and serves on its Board of Directors.

Dr. Eric Y. Peterson also comes from Louisiana.  He attended the University of Louisiana and  received his bachelors in Zoology.  He obtained his doctorate from the LSU School of Medicine in 1991 and completed his residency at the LSU Medical Center in 1995.  He joined our practice that same year.  He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Obstetricians and Gynecologists as well as a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.  Dr. Peterson is Rio Pecos' Corporate Secretary and is a Board Member.  Primary care of women including screening and preventive health, as well as comprehensive care throughout pregnancy with management of labor and delivery, are the focuses of Dr. Peterson's practice.  "I find my practice very rewarding.  I enjoy spending time talking with my patients.  Both of my sons were born prematurely and this taught me a great deal about the anxiety that expectant parents feel."  Dr. Peterson speaks Spanish as his second language and enjoys  target shooting, outdoor photography and nature hikes with his family.

Becky Jones, A Certified Nurse Midwife, originates from Santa Fe and joined Rio Pecos Medical Associates in 1997.  She completed her Masters of Science from the University of New Mexico and worked as a registered nurse on the Labor and Delivery floor at Eastern New Mexico Medical Center prior to joining Rio Pecos.  She belongs to the National Certification Council.   Primary care of women including screening and preventive health, including comprehensive care throughout pregnancy with management of labor and delivery, are the focuses of Becky's practice.  Becky enjoys reading, gardening and spending time with her family.

Janet Hardt, Certified Nurse Midwife, is from Artesia and joined our practice in 2000. She attended the University of New Mexico where she received her Bachelors of Science.  She received her MSN from the University of Texas at El Paso and the Texas Tech Health Sciences Center, El Paso in 2000.   The care of women including primary care, gynecology, prenatal care and delivery at Eastern New Mexico Medical Center are the focuses of Janet's practice.  Spending time with her family, reading and walking are ways Janet enjoys spending her time away from work.

 

Rachel Durand, Certified Nurse Midwife, is from Kansas originally and joined the practice in October 2005. She attended Wichita State University where she received her BSN in 1975. She worked as a labor and delivery nurse at Eastern New Mexico prior to working on her degree. She received her MSN from the University of Texas at El Paso and the Texas Tech Health Sciences Center, El Paso in 1997. The care of women’s choices including primary care, gynecology, prenatal care and delivery at ENMMC are the focuses of Rachel’s practice. Spending time with her family, sailing, fishing and exercise are a few of Rachel’s enjoyments away from work.
